COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS

The Georgia Cycling Association tirelessly advocates youth cycling across the state of Georgia. Whether it is working to remove obstacles for families to enter the sport or partnering with communities on improving cycling resources, our organization is highly engaged in growing the sport of youth cycling in Georgia. But we do not do this work alone. We are proud to partner with other organizations that share our common goal of improving the lives of Georgians through the active and healthy lifestyle of cycling.

Below are some of the organizations we are proud to call a partner. If you would like to team up to improve youth cycling access in your community please email our Executive Director, Kenny Griffin.

Georgia Athletic Director’s Association

The GADA is committed to supporting Georgia’s Athletic Directors by providing training and services while introducing the philosophy of educational athletics that focuses on the role of the NIAAA, the NFHS, the GHSA and the GACA. Our mission is to work with Georgia’s Athletic Directors and coaches, helping develop student-athletes both in and out of the classroom, helping shape and nurture our students so they become productive citizens in our society and better prepares them for the future.

About Our Partnership: The GADA facilitates the opportunity for the Georgia Cycling Association to develop relationships with Athletic Directors and school Administrators across the state of Georgia. These relationships enable Georgia Cycling to help drive awareness about local team programs with school systems, and also helps create school-based teams within our interscholastic program.

Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land makes use of natural land to foster natural land conservation; environmental stewardship; science education and research; and public recreation for the benefit of individuals and communities.

About Our Partnership: Georgia Cycling and the Southeastern Trust for Parks and Land partnered to create new mountain bike-optimized trail systems across Georgia. This will increase access to no-cost quality mountain biking for the general public and in support of Georgia Cycling Teams. The two organizations also collaborate on the Georgia Cycling Coach Licensing Program and host clinics for teams that focus on trail maintenance, first aid, and crew leader training.

Kingston Downs

Kingston Downs is a family-owned and operated 5,000+ acre property situated on the Etowah River, conveniently located a few miles outside of Rome, GA, just 45 minutes north of metro Atlanta. The secluded retreat showcases undisturbed woodlands, open fields, nature trails, and riverfront access, making it an ideal location for outdoor play, gatherings, and weekend getaways.

Georgia Cycling utilizes the venue to host a wide variety of events and activities ranging from, local team programming, Coach Licensing clinics, and fundraiser events throughout the year. Both organizations have the same philosophy for the benefits of outdoor recreation, community, and access to the great outdoors.

aMB Weather

Provides remote and onsite weather support for outdoor events, to minimize the risk of inclement weather.

About Our Partnership: Beginning in October of 2017, the Georgia Cycling Association and AMB Weather began a relationship with AMB Weather providing weather support for the Georgia Cycling races. Since then the relationship has expanded with AMB Weather providing weather support for races and all other Georgia Cycling events. During the race season, weekly practice forecasts are published based on trail locations.

AMB Weather provides on-site support, including real-time weather observations using the MWOS (Mobile Weather Observation Station), satellite and radar support along with hourly forecasting for certain weather elements. AMB Weather is in constant communication with Georgia Cycling decision-makers throughout an event relaying the latest weather information.

AMB Weather, in cooperation with Georgia Cycling, developed the official Georgia Cycling Weather Policy that is used during all Georgia Cycling events. The Weather Policy provides criteria for different weather hazards triggering a Green, Yellow, Orange, or Red Emergency Code. These codes guide the Georgia Cycling decision-makers in dealing with weather hazards to protect people at the venue. AMB Weather has provided training to coaches and core staff on the weather policy as well as how to respond when certain weather hazard parameters are met at the venue.
