New Qualification Format Announced for Peach State Championship

The Georgia Cycling Association announced today a new qualification format for the Peach State Championship. Starting with the 2022 season, student-athletes will have to qualify to compete in the Peach State Championship, to be held this year on October 29 - 30 at Kingston Downs in Rome, Georgia.

The Georgia Cycling Peach State Championship is open to all high school student-athletes that start three of the four regular-season races AND meet one of the requirements below:

  • Be a Varsity Rider

  • Be among the Top 50 JV1 Riders in your conference

  • Be among the Top 50 JV2 Riders in your conference

  • Be among the Top 50 Freshman Riders in your conference

  • Be a Senior

For example, a senior in high school that starts three of the four regular-season races will be qualified to compete at the Peach State Championship.

While middle school student-athletes are not eligible for the state championship, all middle school student-athletes will be invited to ride the course on Saturday between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. The same invitation will be extended to all high school student-athletes that did not qualify to compete in the Peach State Championship. Additional details surrounding this ride and other exciting programming during Championship Weekend will be announced in the coming months.

Since participation in the Peach State Championship is based on meeting certain criteria, registration for this event will no longer be part of the standard registration. For those high school students that choose to register for the full Race Series, the Peach State Championship registration fee will be waived.
