RAIN MOVING RACE 1 TO MILLEDGEVILLE

The Georgia Cycling Association has announced that Race 1 of the Northside Hospital Race Series is being moved south to Milledgeville, GA.

The potential for 3.5 inches or more of rain on Braselton's clay dirt makes this a safety issue from a rider and spectator point of view. The Milledgeville area is far enough south where the soil is very sandy. Why does this matter? The sand makes for better drainage, which will improve our ability to conduct a race that meets our high safety standards.

We are making this decision as early as possible in hopes of giving our entire community (staff, coaches, athletes, parents, and spectators) the maximum amount of time possible to make adjustments. Milledgeville also has rain in the forecast but we believe this move provides us the best opportunity to host a successful race weekend.

The weather may cause the need for additional adjustments during the weekend. So we ask that you remain flexible as we react in real-time to Mother Nature.

All Race 1 registrations are still active. Registrations are based on the race, not the venue so there is nothing you need to do to register for the new location.

  • The schedule remains the same with the East Conference racing on Saturday and the West Conference racing on Sunday.

  • The race day schedule, including wave times, remains unchanged at this juncture.

  • The standard refund policy remains in effect.

  • If you purchased a single-race parking pass for Race 1, it will still be accepted for Race 1. If you purchased on-site camping for Race 1, you still have a spot in the camping area at Race 1...just in a new location

At this time, we are not announcing any additional changes to the 2022 Race Calendar. Should you have any questions please email them to questions@georgiacycling.org and a member of our team will get back to you as soon as possible.
