BEARINGS
bIKE WORKS PARTNERSHIP

The Georgia Cycling Association proudly partners with Bearing Bike Works to enable urban youth in Atlanta to discover their potential through participation in our TeamMTB program.

Bearings Bike Works is a 501(c)(3) that utilizes bikes to help youth develop the skills necessary to successfully transition into adulthood and the workforce. Georgia Cycling and Bearings Bike Works have partnered to create community programs that work to increase diversity in the mountain bike ridership of Atlanta.

Bearings participates in our TeamMTB program, supporting a composite team covering ten schools across Southwest Atlanta. Their organization works to remove all barriers to participation: they provide the bike, gear, transportation, and race day support to any student who needs it. This enables students to experience the Georgia Cycling program

Bearings Bike Works is a youth development program dedicated to equipping young people with the skills they need to build productive lives. Utilizing the ultimate icon of youth, the bicycle, Bearings creates hands-on learning opportunities on and off the bike for students to develop skills that help them transition into adulthood successfully. Bearings is building a culture that celebrates all things bike, and in turn energizes the next generation of cyclists and bike enthusiasts in the heart of Atlanta.

About Our Partnership: Georgia Cycling and Bearings Bike Works have partnered to create community programs that work to increase diversity in the mountain bike ridership of Atlanta. Bearings Bike Works serves as the hub of the inner city initiative, providing infrastructure for education and access to quality bikes as well as a place to keep those bikes in working order. Drawing students from multiple schools from around Southwest Atlanta, Bearings utilizes its unique infrastructure as a bike-centered youth development program to increase access to and remove the barriers that keep inner-city youth from participating in the sport.
