CODE OF CONDUCT

At Georgia Cycling, we believe the trail is a place for growth — not just as athletes, but as people. Our Code of Conduct sets clear expectations for how we treat one another and the land we ride on, helping create a safe, respectful environment where young riders can build confidence, character, and lifelong habits of good sportsmanship.

A core mission of the Georgia Cycling Association ("Georgia Cycling") is to promote the physical, social, and emotional development of its student-athletes through positive, safe, and supportive cycling experiences. Achieving this mission requires a shared commitment to sportsmanship, integrity, respect, and personal responsibility from everyone involved in our programs and events.

This Code of Conduct applies to all individuals associated with Georgia Cycling, including student-athletes, coaches, parents and guardians, volunteers, and spectators.

All participants are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and act as positive role models by exhibiting fairness, respect, and self-control whenever they are seen as representing Georgia Cycling. This includes conduct at in-person events and through digital or social communication.

As a member of the Georgia Cycling community, I agree that I will:

  1. Demonstrate respectful, sportsmanlike behavior toward all participants, including athletes, coaches, parents, officials, volunteers, and spectators.

  2. Refrain from any form of unsportsmanlike conduct, including but not limited to taunting, intimidating, heckling, or berating others.

  3. Avoid any behavior that could endanger the health, safety, or well-being of myself or others.

  4. Refrain from verbal or physical harassment, threats, or abuse of any kind.

  5. Not initiate or participate in physical altercations, fights, or aggressive confrontations.

  6. Use appropriate language and refrain from profanity, vulgarity, or obscene gestures.

  7. Treat all individuals with dignity and respect, regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, or ability.

  8. Treat the land and trails with respect by practicing responsible stewardship and always adhering to good trail etiquette.

  9. Refrain from the use or possession of illegal drugs or controlled substances at any Georgia Cycling event.

  10. Not attend, coach, officiate, or participate in any Georgia Cycling activity while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

  11. Conduct myself responsibly on social media and all forms of electronic communication when associated with Georgia Cycling, including refraining from posts or behavior that undermine the organization’s values or compromise the safety or dignity of others.

Responsibilities of Parents, Guardians, and Adult Leaders

While minors are unable to legally execute this agreement, parents, guardians, and adult leaders acknowledge their responsibility to educate, uphold, and reinforce this Code of Conduct among youth participants.

Parents, guardians, and coaches agree to:

  • Inform and educate the student-athletes in their care about this Code of Conduct.

  • Ensure that said student-athletes understand that adherence to this Code of Conduct is a condition of participation in Georgia Cycling programs.

  • Intervene constructively when behavior does not align with these expectations and support corrective action as needed.
